Out-Foxxing show biz

So just what do you do after you?ve conquered the big screen (an Academy Award), music (American Music Award and Grammy nomination), television (hit shows) and comedy (major critical praise)?

If you?re Jamie Foxx, you break into a whole different medium. Foxx, currently on the “Unpredictable” tour, is knee-deep in promoting the Foxxhole, an exclusive urban comedy, entertainment and lifestyle channel. As executive producer, on-air host, and contributor on the SIRIUS Satellite Radio channel, Foxx will draw from his range of artistic experience for the show.

“The Foxxhole will break new ground in comedy,” Foxx said. “[This] gives me the opportunity to create urban entertainment and programming like you have never heard on theradio.”

The wise money will take Foxx at his word. When he arrived in Los Angeles in the late 1980s, Foxx quickly garnered critical praise as both a singer and comic. His big breakthrough, besides a three-year stint on the cutting-edge television show “In Living Color,” was his role in the 1999 movie “Any Given Sunday,” in which he played hard-partying, egocentric quarterback Willie Beaman.

The show, which is slated to launch this spring, will have original comedy bits and a new approach to radio theater. The smart money bets it will work.

“The Foxxhole adds yet another compelling element to our channel lineup,” SIRIUS Satellite Radio Entertainment and Sports President Scott Greenstein said in a statement.

But what should audiences expect when Foxx takes the stage for his comedy appearance here?

If past shows are any indicator, Baltimore is in for a mix of classic Foxx comedy with songs from his album of the same name.
