Vice President Joe Biden and President Barack Obama brought smiles to Internet savvy Americans’ faces Friday afternoon by playing along during a Reddit chat with The Onion’s fake ‘Diamond’ Joe Biden.
During the Ask Me Anything chat (AMA) the real Biden tweeted a picture to @reddit of him and a Corvette and the question,”A Trans-Am? Ever look under the hood of a Corvette?” with the hashtag #imavetteguy in response to a longstanding Onion bit that claims the VP drives a 1981 Trans AM, which he refers to as his “baby.”
The tweet was then retweeted by the President, along with more than 700 other twitter users, and was quickly brought up on the ‘Diamond’ Joe Biden AMA thread by a Reddit user.
“What’s this we’re hearing about you being a Corvette guy?” the user asked ‘Diamond’ Joe Biden on the AMA.
“I might be wiggin’ out a little right now, but I think there’s some imposter out there spreading bad shit about me. I’ll tell ya right now, whatever they say nothing can come between me and my Zam,” ‘Diamond’ Joe Biden responded.
Most of the questions and answers on the Reddit chat, which The Onion held as a publicity stunt to promote its new Kindle Single ‘The President of Vice: The autobiography of Joe Biden,’ were rude, crude and socially unacceptable, much like the NSFW book, which was released today. The online exchange between fake Joe Biden and the real Joe Biden, who is 70, was one of only a few bright spots in the otherwise mediocre chat.
If only the VP had surprised Reddit readers by responding directly to the thread – now that would have been entertaining.
