Not all Limbaugh’s hate the New York Times. Conservative author David Limbaugh, brother of mainstream media bashing radio star Rush, has lots of love for at least one little page in the Sunday NYT: the best seller list.
That’s because despite all the conspiracy theories in the publishing world that the Times plays with sales records to promote only books their editors like, the paper really does print the unvarnished list of best selling books, he tells Secrets.
“The mainstream media never pays attention to conservative authors,” said Limbaugh Tuesday night at a party thrown by Regnery Publishing to herald his four weeks on the Times list with “The Great Destroyer, Barack Obama’s War on the Republic.”
But, he added, “I will say this. The New York Times has been fair. With everyone of my books they have given me placement on the list for what the book sales warrant. So when I hear the stories that the New York Times has this funky formula that is unfair to people, they have never been unfair to me. Now, they’ve never said anything at all about the book, but I don’t care.”
Limbaugh conceded that his last name and other best sellers blazed a path for Great Destroyer, but he also has done 200 interviews and several book signings to market it.
And, he added during the party featuring a cake decorated like his book, he’d give up the money and fame if he could just have one wish granted. “If I could had a choice between a successful book and Obama winning, or a total failure of the book and Obama losing, I would take the latter, no question,” said Limbaugh with a shrug.
