May 15: 9 Hours of Cranky Monkey Mountain Bike Relay Race, Flintstone, Md., 11 a.m. Individual racers and teams of two or three will ride as many 9-mile laps as they can in nine hours at Rocky Gap State Park. Info: ex2adventures.com.

RACE WALKING
May 16: Race walking clinic, Falls Church High School, 7 a.m. The clinic is geared toward beginner race walkers and includes basics of race walking, proper technique and strategy. RUNNING

May 15: Trail Days Half Marathon, Damascus, 8:30 a.m. The 13.1-mile run is part of a long weekend of activities celebrating Appalachian Trail Days. Info: traildays.us.
May 16: Walk for Water for Africa, Fairfax, 9 a.m. This 5K through Fairfax neighborhoods is a fundraiser to build water wells in remote African villages. The event is being organized as an Eagle Scout project, and all money will be donated to Africare/African Well Fund. Info: walkforwater2010.org.
