Baltimore County community activists plan to appeal the planning board?s approval of the expansion of a Catonsville heating and air conditioning business despite neighbors? protests. A hearing date is set for Aug. 8.
Residents? complaints at Thursday?s board hearing “fell on deaf ears,” said Steve Whisler, president of the Westview Park Improvement & Civic Association, who testified against the plans submitted by Frosty Refrigeration on Powers Lane.
The board several weeks ago voted to change the zoning of the property, which now houses a vacant church, from residential to business outside of the county?s four-year comprehensive rezoning process. Whisler said the request does not benefit the community and therefore does not meet the county?s requirements for a restriction.
“They don?t understand the precedence this sets,” Whisler said.
Frosty owner John Lederer and his attorney, Neil Lanzi, did not respond to requests for comment.
