Klobuchar to invite supporters to policy talks for $725 annual donation: Report

Sen. Amy Klobuchar will allow her supporters to attend a series of policy talks for a minimum donation of $725 per year.

The Minnesota Democrat’s campaign committee made the announcement in an email sent out to donors on Tuesday, which will mark the beginning of the senator’s “North Star” conversation series.

Klobuchar, chairwoman of the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration, which oversees federal elections, will start with a discussion with Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock of Georgia that will revolve around the influence of money in politics.

“The North Star Series offers a unique opportunity to stay in touch and grow a dialogue with U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar through a salon style series of conversations and opportunities,” the email read, according to a report by Business Insider.

The committee lists four tiers of donations that would allow contributors to gain close access to the senator.

Members who give $1,450 can become North Star Committee members, who will serve as “grassroots advisors” to Klobuchar leading up to her reelection campaign. A $725 contribution would allow someone to be a “North Stars friend” and gain access to quarterly virtual gatherings with Klobuchar and special guests. A $500 donation would allow someone to become a sponsor, and $100 can give someone guest access.

However, donors who give either the $100 or $500 contributions now will get access to Klobuchar’s conversation with Warnock on Tuesday night.
