Officer being charged in deadly dog park shooting
Anne Arundel County prosecutors will charge a civilian Army police officer with two misdemeanors in the fatal shooting of a Siberian husky in a Severn dog park. Police had considered the case closed, until news of the shooting prompted County Executive John Leopold to call for a full police investigation. Keith Shepherd, 32, of Severn will be charged with animal cruelty and discharging a firearm near an occupied building. Shepherd’s attorney has said the husky, named Bear-Bear, attacked the officer’s dog.
