A Texas community is mourning the loss of an off-duty deputy who was shot and killed Sunday while picking up dinner for his family.
Deputy Constable Omar Ursin, 37, was getting dinner for his family in the Lake Houston area around 6:30 p.m. when he was shot in his family’s vehicle on Madera Run Parkway, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Ursin was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead, according to a report.

“It is with heavy hearts and utter disbelief that we share the tragic news of the senseless murder of one of our own, Deputy Omar Ursin,” said Harris County Precinct 3 Constable Sherman Eagleton.
“We ask that you pray for Deputy Omar Ursin’s family, friends and all of us who are devastated by the loss of our brother. Rest in Peace Deputy Ursin, we’ve got it from here.”
A homicide investigation into the incident is underway, but no motive has been released, according to authorities.
“The reason for the shooting is unknown. We don’t know if it’s road rage. We don’t know if it has to do with him being law enforcement,” said Sgt. Dennis Wolford with Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit.
“We are still trying to determine that, but we are asking for the public’s help.”
A description of the suspect’s vehicle was released by Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
