Man arrested in December hit-and-run
A Fairfax man has been charged in a December hit-and-run that seriously injured a woman in Arlington.
Arlington County police said 24-year-old John C. Reynolds struck a 22-year-old female pedestrian who was walking on the 4200 block of Fairfax Drive on Dec. 30 at about 12:20 a.m.
The driver fled the scene and the woman was hospitalized in serious condition.
Police said Reynolds has been charged with felony hit-and-run and is in custody at the Arlington County Detention Center.
Police probe P.G. slaying
Prince George’s County police are investigating the homicide of man found dead in a Landover-area home.
Police said 46-year-old George Borden was found unconscious, with trauma to his body, on the floor of a home on the 1300 block of Eli Place at about 4:40 a.m. Wednesday.
No suspects in the slaying have been identified.

Alleged jewelry store burglar apprehended
The man wanted for allegedly burglarizing a Manassas jewelry store in February was apprehended Wednesday night in Prince George’s County, police said.
Police had identified 48-year-old Haywood Purnell Jr. as a suspect in the Feb. 18 burglary at Ashby Jewelers, located at 9407 Main St. Police said someone smashed out the front glass and stole about 40 watches, valued at $6,000.
Sgt. Tim Neumann, a Manassas police spokesman, said he didn’t have further details about where or how Purnell was caught. He is in custody of Prince George’s authorities and an extradition hearing is scheduled for Friday, Neumann said.
Purnell was wanted on burglary and grand larceny charges.
