Police searching for final suspect in home invasion

Police are searching for one of three men who they say broke into a Dumfries home, where one of them was shot by the 47-year-old woman who lived there.

Steven A. Terrentine, 24, of no fixed address, was shot by the woman who had gone into her basement around 10 a.m. Jan. 14, responding to an alarm going off, police said.

The woman spotted three men in her basement. When she confronted them, two of the men ran away, but Terrentine turned and approached her, police said. She fired and seriously wounded him. He fled, only to be stopped by an officer responding to the alarm, police said.

Kyle D. Winston, 26, of no fixed address was arrested in Anne Arundel County on Tuesday.

Police are still looking for Nathaniel E. Payne, 22, of 3731 Stonewall Manor Drive in Triangle.

All three men have been charged with attempted burglary and destruction of property.
