Jeb Bush has his brother’s support if he runs for president in 2016.
Former President George W. Bush expressed the support he would give his brother, the former governor of Florida, should he decide to run for the GOP ticket in two years.
“I hope he runs,” Bush said on the “Today” show Monday morning. “I think in his soul, he knows he can do the job. No matter who says he should run, he knows he’s going to make up his mind based upon what he thinks is right for his family.”
If his brother does decide to run, setting the stage for another Bush-Clinton presidential race, Bush said his friendship with former President Bill Clinton will remain intact.
“We’re too professional for that in a sense,” he said.
A RealClearPolitics average of polls places Jeb Bush second among an 11-person deep potential GOP field. He is currently just .2 points behind the leader, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul.
