Hillary Clinton’s campaign released a new ad Wednesday, touting her “middle-class” background and family.
The ad is part of a $2 million buy in Iowa and New Hampshire by the former secretary of state and Democratic presidential nominee front-runner, as first reported by Politico in the beginning of August.
The 30-second spot titled “Reshuffle the Deck and Rebuild the Middle Class” was released at 6 a.m. Wednesday on Clinton’s YouTube channel – and is still marked as unlisted.
“When you see that you’ve got CEOs making 300 times what the average worker’s making, you know, the deck is stacked in favor of those at the top,” Clinton says in the ad, as photos of her younger self with her parents and graduating from school show. “I want it to be back where it was when I came of age, where my mom, who never got to go to college, could see her daughter go to law school.”
The ad also features here meeting, shaking hands and posing with multiple people.
“We need to have people believing that their work will be rewarded. So I’m going to do everything I can to try to get that deck reshuffled so being middle class means something again,” Clinton adds.
The ad is likely aimed at Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, her top challenger in securing the Democratic nomination and outspoken champion of the middle class.
According to a RealClearPolitics average of polls, Clinton continues to lead the Democratic field with 49.3 points. Sanders follows her with 25 points.
