Woman stabbed in Northeast

D.C. police said a woman was stabbed in Northeast Washington on Sunday afternoon, but authorities had few details of the incident.

The woman, a black female, was conscious and breathing when law enforcement arrived at 300 18th Place NE, but police did not have an immediate description of an assailant. A spokesman said the investigation is continuing.

The incident took place on the same block as an August shooting that left a 48-year-old man dead.

Takoma Park cops looking for man in bus stop assault

Maryland authorities are seeking a man who allegedly assaulted a mother and her 3-year-old child at a bus stop Friday.

Police in Takoma Park said a woman was waiting at the stop on the 7600 block of New Hampshire Avenue and Holton Lane when a man grew frustrated that the child was crying.

Authorities said the man told the woman to “shut her kid up,” but the child’s crying persisted, prompting the man to push the child. When the mother attempted to protect her child, police say the man punched her before fleeing on foot.

The victims weren’t seriously hurt, police said.

Investigators described the assailant as a black male weighing about 150 pounds. Police said was about 5 feet 5 inches and had short twists in his hair.

Va. authorities searching for driver in Fairfax hit-and-run

Police in Fairfax are looking for a driver involved in a hit-and-run accident that left a 33-year-old man critically injured.

Authorities say the victim was walking along a Fairfax Boulevard sidewalk late Friday when a light-colored SUV traveling east ran off the road and hit him. The impact threw the victim more than 50 feet before he hit a parked vehicle. The car that struck him fled the scene.

The involved vehicle, investigators said, should have damage to its front end, including the headlights.
