Brian Kilmeade of “Fox & Friends” on Friday said Pope Francis shouldn’t visit the U.S. at all next week, and should “stay home” if he’s going to continue his criticism of the United States.
“I’m Catholic and he could stay home,” Kilmeade said on his radio show Thursday. “Some of his comments just have no place. He’s in the wrong country.”
“He doesn’t like capitalism. He blames us and money for what’s going on in the Middle East. He says that global warming, we’ve got to do more to have global warming, we’re doing more than anybody else,” Kilmeade continued. “Get on China, show some courage. He’s never visited our country before, now he gets around to it and he’s critical going in?”
Kilmeade’s guest, anchor Chris Wallace, seemed surprised by the tenor and bluntness of Kilmeade’s comments, at one point reminding angry listeners to direct their hate email toward Kilmeade, and not him.
“The preceding comments were those, and all emails should be sent to Brian Kilmeade,” Wallace said, seemingly both horrified and amused with his colleague.
“Absolutely,” Kilmeade said. “Tired of the pope.”
“Still would put him on the show,” Kilmeade added.
