Bipartisan Group of Senators Urges Action on Iran

Published

Today the president will deliver the State of the Union to Congress. But before doing so, he’s coming under fire on a host of issues–health care, terrorism, etc. Add to the list: Iran. In a letter to the president, a bipartisan group of senators says, “We stand read to work alongside you to do everything that is necessary to stop Iran’s acquisition of a nuclear weapons capability in the critical months ahead. We urge you to pursue this critical goal in conjunction with a broader effort to increase American support for the human rights and peaceful aspirations of the Iranian people. Both are essential to our national interest.”

The signatories include Senators Kyl, Bayh, Casey, Cardin, Schumer, Lieberman, McCain, Vitter, and Isakson.
