Sen. Bernie Sanders received seven stitches after cutting his head on a edge of glass shower door in a mysterious incident on Friday morning, according to his presidential campaign.

The 77-year-old 2020 hopeful was given a “clean bill of health” and still plans to keep his campaign schedule in the coming days, his campaign said. He was scheduled to hold a healthcare round table in Charleston, S.C., later Friday before traveling to Nevada for a Saturday rally.

Sanders campaign spokeswoman Arianna Jones declined to give details of the accident but said he did not slip into the door, and that he went to a walk-in clinic “out of precaution” on Friday morning.

“The senator has proceeded with all of his scheduled events — joining a group of approximately 20 local clergy for breakfast this morning — and looks forward to joining a roundtable with South Carolinians this afternoon to discuss how we can provide high quality affordable health care for all,” she said.

Sanders announced his second presidential campaign last month. During the 2016 campaign, a letter from his doctor said he was in “overall very good health.” The letter stated that Sanders has been treated in the past for gout, hyperthyroidism, and hernias. In 1996, he underwent surgery for the first time in his life to remove a cyst from his vocal chords.
