Just a little dumber and I could have joined the force myself (Gibson in “Payback)
Mel Gibson, you’re hilarious. It takes a certain pugnacity to come back from cheating on your wife, drunk driving, acting like a homophobe and an anti-Semite, making some really atrocious films, disappearing for seven years (not that we’re judging — loved “Lethal Weapon 4”) and then returning — to remark on national politics.
But Beltway Confidential thinks it’s adorable when celebrities talk about politics — and we eagerly await the political careers of Ben Affleck and Alec Baldwin — so let’s hear what Mel had to tell Fox News:
[Obama] is a man with an impossible task on his hands,” Gibson told Pop Tarts at the Hollywood premiere of his latest drama thriller “Edge of Darkness” on Tuesday night. “He got left a mess and I wish him all the best but I don’t think he’s going to fix it in five minutes and probably not in his entire tenure.”
Still, the worst may be yet to come: Gibson’s Boston accent in the new movie sounds wicked bad!
Thanks for playing. Next?
