After adults threw a pajama party in memory of Kami Lambert, who died of leukemia in September, Lambert’s legacy lived on at the Chesapeake Arts Center — in the form of a children’s pajama fashion show.
Last month, about 80 kids between the ages of 3 and 18 packed a Brooklyn Park venue to show off their pajamas in the First Annual Casey Cares Jammie Fashion Show to benefit the Kami’s Jammies program to benefit critically ill children.
Parents and supporters filled the seating area to watch kids show off their sleepwear. The event, which was hosted by Maria Dennis of WMIX-106.5, featured a judging panel that included state Del. Nic Kipke, Sandy Kolar from Dazzling Stars Model and Talent Management, Blast cheerleader Tabetha Backoff, Fox 45 reporter Candace Dold and your favorite Examiner social columnist — me.
The crowd cheered as the “models” — some of whom were cancer patients — strutted their stuff. Kami’s Jammies provides sleepwear and monthly themed pajama parties for children at the University of Maryland Hospital for Children.
And the winner is …
Scene & Seen asked bartenders to display their talents in the Fifth Annual Cocktail World Cup, which was contested aboard the USS Constellation in the Inner Harbor.
The cup is holding a nine-city tour, culminating with a championship round in New Zealand on Sept. 9 through 13. Brendan Dorr, whose amazing concoction was dubbed the “Queen Bee,” was the Baltimore winner and will awarded a berth in the finals. Cheers to Brendan and good luck in New Zealand, hon.
I scream, you scream for … gelato
David Eckert, who hosts the Public Broadcasting Service’s “Culinary Travels,” recently filmed a 30-minute segment at Pitango Gelato in Fells Point. Noah Dan, the store’s owner, said it was “really cool.”
