Michelle Obama records radio ad for Wendy Davis, won’t say ‘Obamacare’

First Lady Michelle Obama has endorsed Wendy Davis for Texas governor in a new radio ad that began airing this week.

“On November 4, you have a chance to make a real difference for our children,” Obama said in the ad.

Obama also said that education is a “top priority” for Davis “because she wants to give all our kids a chance to build a better life for themselves and for their families.” Obama referenced the American dream and says Davis “knows something” about that, having been raised by a single mother.

“Wendy worked hard, she went on to college and Harvard Law school,” Obama said. “So Wendy Davis knows the power of education.”

Davis also knows the power of marrying a rich man to pay for that education.

Obama said Davis is “fighting to expand Medicaid,” which Dallas ABC affiliate WFAA took as a reference to Obamacare. With public approval for President Obama’s signature healthcare law remaining low, it’s no surprise Mrs. Obama wouldn’t want to mention it by name.

Mrs. Obama is also campaigning for Rep. Bruce Braley, D-Iowa on Friday. She also endorsed the feminine shapewear company Spanx earlier this week.

Davis continues to trail Republican opponent Greg Abbott by double-digits.
