MSNBC host Chris Matthews: Hillary will remain ‘very close’ to Obama

MSNBC host Chris Matthews thinks Hillary Clinton will remain “very close” with President Obama in terms of her positions and policies during her likely campaign for the White House.

During an episode of “Hardball,” Matthews specifically cited reports that Obama adviser John Podesta will take a big job in Hillary’s campaign as evidence that Clinton will not distance herself from Obama.

“The fact that John Podesta is a top aide to Hillary Clinton tells me they’re going to stay very close together with Obama,” supposed Matthews. “This is not going to be a ‘do your own thing,’ this is going to be a team effort so far.”

Podesta will leave the White House come February to begin working for Clinton’s presidential campaign, the Wall Street Journal reported last week.

Perhaps Clinton has decided from experience that she cannot, in fact, distance herself from Obama’s policies and decisions.

Of course, the former secretary of State attempted to criticize the president’s foreign policy last year, only to be met with clear disapproval from the White House.

Clinton also claimed that we must “fix” Obamacare during a Twitter interview last year, even after supporting and defending the health care law throughout its rocky rollout.

Though she has not yet made an announcement about running for president, Hillary is expected to make the decision sometime between now and the spring.
