Mystics on a scoring streak

The Mystics scored 80 points in just one of their first eight games — their season-opening loss to Connecticut, the team they face tonight, by the way — but Washington is averaging 91.2 points in its last five games. At the crux of the team’s offensive explosion is DeLisha Milton-Jones, who has 68 points on 24-for-44 shooting (55 percent) in the last three games. Milton-Jones shot better than 50 percent in just one of the Mystics’ first nine contests.

Meanwhile, Connecticut has lost four straight at home and six of its last seven overall after Sunday’s 71-58 loss to San Antonio. Against the Silver Stars, the Sun connected on just 19 of 61 shots, including two of 16 attempts from 3-point range. Depth is a huge issue: Connecticut’s reserves are averaging only 6.8 points in the last five games.
