Woman accused of using six children to steal Trump signs

A New York woman was arrested this week on suspicion that she used six children to steal political signs supporting President Trump and New York Rep. Elise Stefanik.

Authorities with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office charged 45-year-old Deana Algarin with six counts of endangering the welfare of a child. A report from the sheriff’s office accused Algarin of driving around a caravan of children to steal lawn signs for Trump and Stefanik in numerous upstate New York locations.

A report on the crime stated that officers caught Algarin with a car full of signs that they believe were stolen from the towns of Tribes Hill and Amsterdam.

It remains unclear whether Algarin was related to any of the children, but she received two citations for seat belt violations involving children less than 15 years old. She was also charged with marijuana possession and possession of stolen property.

Algarin will appear before courts in the towns of Amsterdam, Glen, and Glenville at an unscheduled date.
