Anthony Scaramucci says he expects to help with Trump’s re-election campaign

Despite his short tenure at the White House, former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci said he has continued to stay in touch with members of President Trump’s inner circle and plans to help the president during his re-election campaign.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Scaramucci said he envisions himself working with the president in the future, though he hasn’t talked with Trump in at least a month. He said he does, however, speak “regularly” with the president’s closest advisers.

“I have very good relationships there still, and you have to remember we were a team for 18 months, and so we all had different roles,” Scaramucci told the Associated Press. “And I’m still playing my role frankly. I’m an advocate for the president, media surrogate when I need to be.”

Scaramucci was tapped to serve as White House communications director in July, but was fired 11 days later after giving a profanity-laced interview to the New Yorker and disparaging several White House officials, including former chief of staff Reince Priebus.

The former Wall Street financier said he hoped his tenure in the White House would’ve been longer than the shelf life of a “carton of milk,” but said he expects in the future he’ll play a role in Trump’s re-election campaign.

“At some point I’ll probably be more involved from the outside, but more in a re-election capability than from inside the administration,” he said.
