President Obama on Friday signed an executive order that creates a team to facilitate the transition to the next administration.

“The peaceful transition of power has long been a hallmark of American democracy,” it said. “It is the policy of the United States to undertake all reasonable efforts to ensure that presidential transitions are well-coordinated and effective, without any regard to party affiliation.”
