Political Pets

You may already know that New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has a D.C. office (Bloomberg visited the bureau last week to unveil its new “bullpen” layout).

But you probably didn’t know that the office has its own pet: A fish. Yes, if you swing by the Pennsylvania Avenue office, be sure to say hi to “Fulton Fish,” the office’s newest addition. The fish was named for the Fulton Fish Market in Manhattan.

Rejected names: Stuyvesant Fish (an American railroad executive) and Hamilton Fish (Stuyvesant’s son).

The idea of an office fish is nothing new to Bloomberg: His New York office also features one.

However cute the little creature, we’re still unclear on why any politician would want an office pet so prone to flipping and flopping.
