The FBI began investigating Domingo after he made comments on online forums in which he supported and pondered violent attacks geared toward Muslims, Jewish people, churches, and police officers. Domingo eventually settled on targeting a rally slated to take place in Long Beach in April 2019, according to the DOJ’s statement.

Prior to this, Domingo had made comments online supporting attacks similar to the October 2017 Las Vegas shooting and the 2019 mass shootings of mosques in New Zealand, according to the DOJ’s statement.

As part of the Long Beach plot, Domingo worked with an accomplice and bombmaker. The accomplice had been working as a double agent with the FBI and the bombmaker had been an undercover FBI agent. Domingo subsequently provided 3 1/2-inch nails to the bombmaker, as material for the supposed devices, according to the DOJ’s statement.
