House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler will not be in Washington for the conclusion of President Trump’s impeachment trial, citing the health of his wife.
“I am sorry to not be able to stay in Washington for the conclusion of the Senate impeachment trial but I need to be home with my wife at this time. We have many decisions to make as a family. I have every faith in my colleagues and hope the Senate will do what is right,” Nadler, 72, tweeted Friday.

The New York Democrat, who is an impeachment manager, helped draft the two articles of impeachment against Trump in December.
He missed an earlier portion of the trial this week as his wife, Joyce Miller, was treated for pancreatic cancer.
Nadler said Sunday his wife, an adjunct at Columbia University, had undergone surgery after being admitted to the hospital in December and was “taking further steps to address the spread of the cancer.”
