‘Astounding’ arsenal of illegal firearms in high-end Los Angeles neighborhood, feds say

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the Los Angeles Police Department raided a Holmby Hills mansion Wednesday finding more than 1,000 firearms.

The warrant was served after the ATF received an anonymous tip that someone was “conducting illegal firearms transaction outside the scope of the federal firearm license” in the high-end Los Angeles neighborhood.

“I had never seen so many weapons in my career of 31 years,” LAPD Lt. Chris Ramirez said in a news conference. “That’s such a big arsenal in a residence like this, in this type of neighborhood. It’s astounding.”

Photos from the crime scene show officials taking stock of hundreds of rifles, handguns, and shotguns.

A man has been arrested in conjunction with the raid, but no name has been released yet.

The neighborhood contains the Playboy Mansion and borders both Beverly Hills and Bel Air.
