Virginia’s top three elected officials will tour the state Sunday and Monday to gin up last-minute support for Republican congressional candidates in Tuesday’s midterm elections.
Gov. Bob McDonnell, Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling, and Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli will travel to four congressional districts where Republicans believe they have a chance of unseating Democratic incumbents.
Stops will include Northern Virginia’s 11th District where businessman Keith Fimian is running against Rep. Gerald Connolly; the central Virginia 5th District where state Sen. Robert Hurt is challenging Rep. Tom Perriello; and the southwestern 9th District where state House Majority Leader Morgan Griffith is running against longtime incumbent Rep. Rick Boucher; and the Norfolk-area 2nd District where auto dealer Scott Rigell is running against Rep. Glenn Nye.
Meanwhile, former Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine, now chairman of the Democratic National Committee, will headline a rally Sunday at the YH Thomas Community Center in Hampton. Kaine is scheduled to appear with Nye and Rep. Bobby Scott, according to the Democratic Party of Virginia.
