NYT’s book on ‘Trump’s assault on immigration,’ Kushner in the Middle East, D-Day dogs

Surprise! Not. The New York Times’ White House crew are going after President Trump’s immigration policy. In a Facebook brag, they announced the submission to Simon & Schuster of a new book titled, Border Wars: Inside Trump’s Assault on Immigration Hardcover.

It will be available Oct. 8. Written by Michael Shear and Julie Hirschfeld Davis, their Amazon preview reads, “no issue matters more to Donald Trump than immigration.” It promises “never-before-told stories.” Shear said, “Our baby weighed in at 6.6 pounds and 11 1/2 inches long.” …

  • The media mocked him and his legion of critics called top Trump aide Jared Kushner’s recent Peace to Prosperity Workshop in Bahrain a waste. But after he made his impassioned plea to investment in Palestine as a way to foster peace, billionaire investors warmed to the plan, according to an organizer of the event. “Reporters might have rolled their eyes, but the money people were impressed and they told him that,” said the official. And two weeks after the event, even the media started to report on a desire in Palestinian territories to trade bullets for shekels and dinars. …

  • Maryland-based Warrior Canine Connection, which helps link dogs with recovering veterans, is naming a new litter after D-Day veterans. “These dogs will be a living memorial to the sacrifices that brave American heroes who fought on D-Day,” said Rick Yount, WCC founder and executive director. It was announced at the Eighth Annual Tribute to Veterans and Those Who Serve in Congress featuring CBS News Chief Washington Correspondent Major Garrett, retired Air Force Gen. Chuck Wald, Rep. Peter King, and world-renowned tenor Anthony Kearns. In a nice twist, the “Operation Overlord” litter was born on June 24, the day of the event. …

  • Former Democratic aide and trade exec Sean Kennedy debuts this month as the National Restaurant Association’s new executive vice president of public affairs. The group is hosting a party for him June 24th at its L Street headquarters. He has worked in the White House, for top Missouri lawmakers, and was vice president at the trade group Airlines for America. …
