Trump claims he was kept off some Florida ballots

Donald Trump claimed Tuesday that many of his supporters had difficulties voting for him because his name was left off the ballot at various polling stations in Florida.

The leading GOP candidate is expected to win Florida’s winner-take-all Republican primary, though home-state Sen. Marco Rubio said Tuesday he’s “very optimistic” he’ll pull off a victory.

According to Trump, and Fox News reporter Jennifer Eckhart, several voters had complained Tuesday morning that the billionaire’s name was not listed on the ballot when they showed up to vote.

“Hearing reports from friends in my home state of Florida that [Trump] is left OFF of voting ballots at various polling stations,” Eckhart tweeted at around 9 a.m. ET.

She later added, “Up to 15 people now have called me to complain that Trump is left off their voting ballot in Florida.” Eckhart also reported that “registered Republicans in Jupiter County [were] being given Independent ballots,” though such irregularities could not be confirmed.

Trump responded to reports with a tweet of his own, claiming “a lot” of voters had told him, too, they couldn’t locate his name on their ballots.

A spokeswoman for Florida’s Division of Elections could not be reached for comment.
