If you are looking for a winner at the U.S. Open don’t look for a person with a tennis racquet the man you are looking for is Damon Phillips, Vice President of ESPN360.com.
He the man behind the broadband network that come Sunday night will have aired over 300 hours of live tennis from Flushing Meadows.
Phillips told me that things at the U.S. Open could not have gone better for the fastest growing member of the ESPN family of networks.
Phillips on the U.S. Open:”We have had a great experience with our coverage. Tennis fans from all over the country have been able to follow the action with our network both at work as well as home. The surprise also is that we had a strong viewership with the night sessions.”
Phillips on the extended coverage:”Over the two weeks we have been able to show people action from the outer courts. There also is the ability to watch up to four matches or one at a time, so tennis fans really have enjoyed the extended coverage we have offered.”
The quality of the broadband picture is very good and for those who have checked out the offerings at Tennis.org and the Tennis Channel.com both have also offered quality coverage of the U.S. Open. The video as well as the matches were very well covered.
I would be remiss if I did not mention the fine job done by the folks at U.S. Open Radio which offered plenty of quality coverage. Well worth checking out if you have never heard tennis on radio before it really is a treat.
Here is a look at the big highlights from the Tennis Channel.
