Most Dem voters want party to start impeachment process for Trump if they win the House: Poll

More than two-thirds of Democratic voters want to see the party start the process for impeaching President Trump if they succeed in taking control of the House in November, a new poll found.

The survey from Quinnipiac University published Monday found that 71 percent of Democrats are in favor of beginning the impeachment process.

Overall, just 38 percent of voters think Democrats should start the impeachment process if they gain the majority in the House, while 56 percent believe they should not, according to the poll.

Nearly all Republicans polled, 93 percent, said they don’t want Democrats to launch the impeachment process if the party takes control of the House. Among independents, 37 percent said they want the process for removing Trump from office started.

The Quinnipiac University poll of 1,020 voters occurred from June 27 to July 1 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.7 percentage points.
