WITNESSES SAY ONE BOMBER BLEW HIMSELF UP AT A NEARBY CHECKPOINT, ALLOWING THE SECOND BOMBER TO SLIP INSIDE THE BAGHDAD MOSQUE, KILLING 29 AND WOUNDING MORE THAN 50.
MANY OF THE VICTIMS WERE STUDENTS FROM A NEARBY UNIVERSITY.
WAVES OF ATTACKS HAVE STRAINED SECURITY FORCES IN RECENT DAYS WITH VIOLENCE REACHING LEVELS NOT SEEN SINCE 2008.
ON MONDAY, BOMB ATTACKS KILLED FIFTEEN PEOPLE.
