Ed Markey lays blame for ‘hate and violence’ at ‘scum’ Trump’s feet

Sen. Ed Markey called President Trump “scum” for fanning the flames of violence in the United States.

“Donald trump is scum for fueling racist hate and violence in our country,” the Democratic Massachusetts senator said Monday.

Trump has taken criticism for some of his comments regarding demonstrations over the death of George Floyd.

“They were not only totally professional, but very cool. I was inside, watched every move, and couldn’t have felt more safe,” Trump wrote of Secret Service agents who worked to contain protesters outside the White House last week. “Big crowd, professionally organized, but nobody came close to breaching the fence. If they had, they would…..have been greeted with the most vicious dogs, and most ominous weapons, I have ever seen. That’s when people would have been really badly hurt, at least.”

Democrats have accused Trump of using Floyd’s death and the resulting protests as a tool to divide the public during a time of crisis.

“He should be a unifying force in our country,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Sunday on ABC’s This Week. “We have seen that with Democratic and Republican presidents all along. He should be a unifying source and not fuel the flame.”
