Expert warns of ‘stealth jurors’ in Trump lawsuit: Report

Jury selection in New York‘s case against former President Donald Trump‘s business may prove difficult, according to one expert.

Melissa Gomez, president of MMG Jury Consulting, told Reuters she believes there may be jurors who try to hide their preconceived notions about Trump and his company, calling them “stealth jurors.”

“Because of the social and societal implications, and particularly because this could be one of the first steps in ensuring that Donald Trump cannot run in the future, there’s a high risk of a stealth juror,” Gomez said.

Gomez also said the state will look to ensure inherently pro-Trump jurors will not be selected for the case as the juror’s decision must be unanimous and one holdout could upend the government’s case.

New York Attorney General Letitia James, a Democrat, filed a lawsuit against Trump and three of his adult children last month over alleged value manipulation of assets belonging to the Trump Organization. James is seeking $250 million for the alleged practices.

Trump slammed the lawsuit calling it “a continuation of a witch hunt that began when I came down the escalator at Trump Tower,” with the escalator ride being in reference to when he announced his presidential run in June 2015.
