O’Malley should cut his losses on casino deal
Re: “Prince George’s County casino backers take final roll of dice,” June 24
I’m not really sure why Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley has not acknowledged the findings of his gaming commission and instead is asking House Speaker Michael Busch, D-Anne Arundel, for explanations.
The matter is very clear to the rest of us: This is not the time to discuss gaming expansion in our state, especially when it would mean tax cuts for wealthy casino operators. Put the issue to bed and move on.
We need to find the way out of our fiscal troubles without schemes and dreams that only benefit a few and hurt the many.

Obama uses race as a Trojan horse
Re: “Obama backers use race as alibi for ebbing support,” June 24
Michael Barone reports that once again, President Obama is claiming that racial hatred against him is the motivation behind declining public support for his policies and agenda.
I am of white, Euro-American ancestry, but my “adopted” congressman is Rep. Allen West, R-Fla., an African-American who has my utmost respect because his ideals come much closer to mine than do those of the members of Congress representing Democrat-monopolized and -controlled Maryland.
Bill Maher, a hit man for Obama’s re-election campaign, is engaging in scandalous racial attacks against Congressman West. So we see that criticism of black politicians is racist only if they are directed against black Democrats, while such vitriol against black Republicans is still considered laudable.
America does not have a race relations problem. Rather, it has a culture war of competing societal values, in which Obama and the Democrats are disingenuously using the race issue as a political Trojan horse to advance the implementation of their extreme left-wing ideology.

TSA screenings are neither invasive nor humiliating
Re: “TSA screenings are excessively intrusive,” From Readers, June 22
I’m upset when people complain constant about Transportation Security Administration screenings. I’ve never felt that they were invasive or humiliating.
I would also like to praise TSA employees, who are very polite and explain what they are doing.
Terrorists come up with many new ways to kill us, and the screening helps TSA to protect us.

Don’t vote for any career politicians
The child tax credit for illegal immigrants is the most recent example of how the federal government is wasting billions of dollars of our tax money. This is a cash refund (up to $1,000 per child) sent to people who don’t even have a Social Security number.
Do you need a better example of a failed tax policy and an ineffective immigration policy?
Congress is to blame. It is not solving these problems. If we want a change, we must fire the career politicians and hire a new breed of legislators who will represent our country, not their party and those who funded their elections.
Serving in Congress should be an honor, not a career.
