CNN’s Brian Stelter wins ‘Liberal Hack’ Twitter tournament

A top CNN correspondent was crowned champion of the “Liberal Hack Tournament” hosted by Twitter personality Comfortably Smug.

Brian Stelter beat out Washington Post conservative columnist Jennifer Rubin on Monday night, taking in 52% of the more than 29,000 votes cast in the tournament.

“Despite attempts by liberal hacks in the media to interfere in voting and suppress voters, I can announce the winner of the First Annual Smug Industries Liberal Hack championship,” the account tweeted. “CONGRATULATIONS @brianstelter !!!”

Comfortably Smug unveiled the 64-person tournament in early January. The account was briefly suspended Monday after it tweeted, “Where’s Hunter, fat?” about former Vice President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden.

MSNBC host Rachel Maddow and CNN’s Jim Acosta rounded out the “Fake Four” in a contest that featured hosts and anchors from the two networks. More than 1 million votes were cast during the weeklong tournament.

Earlier this month, Republican Sen. Martha McSally called CNN reporter Manu Raju a “liberal hack” when the journalist attempted to ask her a question about President Trump’s impeachment trial.
