Montgomery County police say a Florida man has been charged in the rape of a young girl more than 30 years ago.
Police said 48-year-old Christopher Chamblin, of Davie, Fla., is accused of sexually assaulting a girl who was 6 or 7 years old in the late 1970s. He was extradited to Montgomery County last week and is charged with first-degree rape.
A woman came forward in March 2009 to report that Chamblin raped her multiple times and threatened to harm her and her family if she told anyone, police said. Chamblin was between 14 and 16 years old and was living in Silver Spring at the time, police said.
Chamblin and the girl lived in the same neighborhood, police spokeswoman Lucille Baur said.
Police say there may be additional victims, and anyone with information about inappropriate contact Chamblin has had with children should call police at 240-773-5400.
