House Democrats followed in the footsteps of Occupy Wall Street, #BlackLivesMatter, college campus protestors, and belligerent kindergarteners when they decided to throw a fit on Wednesday, shutting down Congress by holding a sit-in and demanding House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) allow a vote on gun control.
The protest, led by civil rights icon John Lewis (D-Ga.), wanted to force a vote that would ban weapon sales to people on the no-fly list, expand universal background checks, and end due process for firearm purchasers.
When Ryan tried to address the protestors, Democrats started chanting “no bill, no break” and singing “We Shall Overcome.”
Conservatives mocked the House Democrats endlessly. Not only is the proposed bill basically unconstitutional, it also would not have prevented the mass shootings or terrorist attacks that have happened in the last few years.
Here are some of the best burns conservatives gave to House Democrats over yesterdays tantrum:
2009-10 Dem-Controlled Congress: NO GUN LAWS
2011-14 Dem-Controlled Senate: NO GUN LAWS
2016 Dem-Controlled… nothing: GUN LAWS NOW!— Razor (@hale_razor) June 23, 2016
I’ll give the Democrats this: They sure know how to cover up President Obama’s deadly incompetence on national security. #NoBillNoBreak

My mom grew up under an authoritarian regime in Syria that used secret lists to deny rights. Shameful that some in Congress demand same.

Are Democrats still disrupting Congress because it won’t vote to put people on secret lists and deny them their rights? #NoBillNoBreak

In Soviet America, government holds sit-in to protest you.

This really is nothing more than these people applauding themselves and saying how great each other is. What a circlejerk. #NoBillNoBreak
