Finding alcohol at Quicken Loans Arena during the GOP convention in Cleveland will be difficult unless you’re a member of Republican leadership in Congress or a donor.
A GOP convention official told the Washington Examiner alcohol will not be sold to attendees inside the arena, but “very high-level officials” in “hospitality areas” will have access to alcohol. The convention official identified the “very high-level officials” as including the Republican leadership in the House and Senate and some donors, and the official confirmed that the “hospitality areas” are akin to box seats in the stadium.
The lack of access to alcohol for attendees of the upcoming convention is consistent with the 2012 GOP convention in Tampa, where no alcohol was served, as reported by the New York Times.
The Republican Party lists several bars in its “Official Venue Guide” for those visiting Cleveland and in need of booze.
