The Pentagon on Wednesday evening announced Dana W. White will take over as spokesperson for the Defense Department.

White will be appointed to the senior executive service and serve as assistant to the secretary of defense for public affairs, according to a statement from Defense Secretary Jim Mattis.

The incoming spokesperson most recently worked as CEO of 1055 Grady, a strategic communications firm based in Washington, D.C.

White’s previous jobs include Taiwan country director in the office of the undersecretary of defense for policy, professional staff member on the Senate Armed Services Committee, and editorial writer for the Wall Street Journal.
