Donald Trump recycled a line used by Hillary Clinton in a tweet Friday evening, calling her a “loose cannon” who can’t be trusted with intelligence briefings.
“Hillary Clinton should not be given national security briefings in that she is a lose cannon with extraordinarily bad judgement & [instincts],” Trump tweeted.

“Loose cannon” was used by Clinton back in May after Trump clinched the number of delegates needed to become the Republican Party’s presidential nominee.
“Just today it was reported that Donald Trump has clinched the number of delegates he needs to be the Republican nominee. That means an unqualified loose cannon is within reach of the most powerful job in the world,” she said at an event in Las Vegas at the time.
This week, the Director of National Intelligence said it is “the appropriate time” for both presidential candidates to receive intelligence briefings now that both Trump and Clinton have been officially nominated by their respective parties. However, some in intelligence and political circles have expressed concern about handing sensitive information to Clinton following an FBI investigation into her use of a private email server during her time as secretary of state.
Trump too has worried some intelligence experts after he made a joke encouraging Russian hackers this week to recover Clinton’s deleted emails during her time as secretary of state and send them to the FBI.
