Bad news came for Hillary Clinton in the form of a Gallup poll released Sept. 4. The results show that her favorable ratings are some of her worst yet.

Results from Aug. 19-Sept. 1 show that 41 percent of U.S. adults have a favorable opinion of Clinton, compared to the 51 percent who view her unfavorably.

The rating is the lowest for Clinton since her husband’s 1992 presidential election, and her lowest yet as a politician and candidate. As the results note:

Clinton’s sub-40% favorable ratings in 1992 were mostly a product of the public’s lack of familiarity with her, rather than any kind of broad unpopularity. By contrast, her current 41% favorable rating is arguably her worst, given her nearly universal name recognition.

The results do show zero change in how Democrats view their frontrunner, however. From both Jul. 8-21 and Aug. 19-Sept. 1, Democrats viewed her favorably at 74 percent.

Nevertheless, it is still possible for Democrats in time to worry about Clinton’s image problem as the general election approaches. Clinton would need to not only earn votes from Democrats, but independents as well.
