No matter who wins the big game in a couple of weeks, one lucky lady is about to get her Super Bowl ring.
An apparently big fan of the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs who offered a wedding ring in exchange for football tickets on Craigslist has found a trade partner, and both sides are set to emerge as winners. The woman, identified only as “Ring Lady,” receives seats to two upcoming games, and the man who parted with the tickets gets a ring for his bride-to-be. The reason that this transaction isn’t a soulless deal only a zealot would make? The wedding ring involved in the trade is from Ring Lady’s previous marriage.
“The ring holds no value to me,” she told FOX Sports-Kansas City. “And is a lot easier to part with over tickets than handing that much cash over for the tickets.”
Ring Lady said that tickets to one of the two games, the undefeated Chiefs (9-0) versus the rival Denver Broncos (8-1) on Dec. 1, were selling for $400 each after an ill-fated attempt to secure seats at a lower price. Because that was out of her price range, she said, the ring — appraised at $3,100 — turned out to be a suitable trade chip.
“We don’t have that sort of money so my only option was to barter a wedding ring (from a previous marriage).”
She now gets to take her current husband to “the best game of the year” for his 40th birthday.
Ring Lady added that word on the street is the ring ‘buyer’ plans to propose to his girlfriend this Sunday — meaning that even in a Chiefs loss, love wins.
