Police have released a photograph of a vehicle suspected of being involved in the armed abduction of a Springfield man.
The incident happened on May 9, when three men approached the victim as he was leaving his house on the 6100 block of Cumberland Avenue at about 1:30 a.m., according to Fairfax County police. One of the men brandished a handgun and the suspects forced the victim into his own car.
The three suspects all got into the vehicle. They drove the man to two banks and forced him to withdraw cash, police said. Then, the victim was forced into the trunk of his car. The suspects drove for a short time, then got out of the car.
One of the men opened the trunk, cut the victim with a knife and told the man to stay in the trunk until the suspects got away, authorities said. When the suspect got out of the trunk, he was near Piedmont Place and Braddock Road, nearly three miles from his home. Police said the cut was minor.
On Thursday, police released an image of a car photographed near the Commerce Street Plaza. That vehicle is believed to have been following the victim’s vehicle during the crime, police said.
