Milwaukee’s biggest paper slams Clinton ahead of Wis. primary

The largest newspaper in Milwaukee wrote a scathing editorial about Hillary Clinton less than a week ahead of the Wisconsin primary.

“Her horrible track record on transparency raises serious concerns for open government under a Clinton administration — so serious we believe they may disqualify her from public office,” the Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel editorial board wrote.

According to the latest Marquette University poll, Bernie Sanders leads Clinton 49-45. The Sanders campaign has repeatedly said that it is crucial for them to win the majority of the state’s 86 delegates, because he is hundreds behind Clinton in the nominating process.

The editorial went on to hammer Clinton for her use of a private email server and questioned whether or not the FBI is treating the case fairly, as Gen. David Petraus lost his career for similar such actions.

“No president, no secretary of state, no public official at any level is above the law. She chose to ignore it, and must face the consequences,” the Journal Sentinel wrote of Clinton.

The editorialists than criticized her reluctance to release her tax returns in 1992, the controversies surrounding the Clinton Foundation and her paid Wall Street speeches. There was no praise for Sanders.

“Clinton has a long track record of public service but an equally long record of obfuscation, secrecy and working in the shadows to boost her power and further her ambition,” the editorial board wrote. “We encourage voters to think long and hard about that record when choosing the next president.”
