President Trump will start his first trip to India with what may be his biggest rally yet.
The president’s two-day visit to the country next week will begin with a “Namaste Trump” event at Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad on Monday. The cricket stadium is the world’s largest and holds 110,000 people, features an Olympic-sized pool, and is perfectly round. It was built at the cost of $100 million, according to the Times of India.
Trump said on Tuesday that Indian President Narendra Modi had promised “we’ll have 7 million people between the airport and the event” before raising the anticipated number to 10 million.
Trump and first lady Melania Trump will also visit the Taj Mahal, a grand mausoleum built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century. The Taj Mahal houses the tombs of Jahan and his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Trump owned the Trump Taj Mahal, a casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, until 2016.
In September, Trump hosted Modi in Houston for a “Howdy Modi” rally, attended by about 50,000.
India has undertaken a massive effort to clean up before Trump’s arrival. In Agra, the government is attempting to reduce the smell of the river, and in Ahmedabad, Trump’s first stop, authorities have built a 1,300-foot wall to obscure the view of a slum. Forty families claim they have been served eviction notices.
