NoMa farmer’s market starts Wednesday

Can’t bring yourself to get up early on the weekends to grab the good produce at Eastern Market? Well, if you live or work in the neighborhood between New York and Massachusetts avenues, there’s a farmer’s market for you working folks on the go.

Starting Wednesday, NoMa Business Improvement District and Metro Green Markets are opening a weekly farmer’s market from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 1st and M streets Northeast. Patrons can pick up dinner or snacks after work or on their way home from now until Oct. 26, the last day of the market.

From now though Aug. 10, folks also can stick around for NoMa’s summer outdoor movie series two blocks away and also held on Wednesdays. Movies start at 7 p.m.; this week’s flick is “Stand By Me.”

With fresh food and classic movies, looks like the only thing NoMa’s weeknight life is missing now are giant outdoor air conditioners for that 90-degree heat.
