Conservative powerhouse American Crossroads is out with yet another hard-hitting web video that holds President Barack Obama accountable for his false attacks on Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
In its latest ad, “Truth” Crossroads puts lays out Obama’s attacks in black and white and uses article after article from mainstream media sources and political fact-checking websites to disprove the claims made in his campaign ads – claims that the President himself has admitted are sometimes overboard.
“If President Obama treats the debates the way he runs his campaign, the single most important rebuttal will be the truth,” states the ad’s narrator.
Romney has said he expects the President to lie in the debates, and it will be a struggle for him to determine whether he should take the time to correct Obama or just move on.
“But I think the challenge that I’ll have in the debate is that the president tends to, how shall I say it, to say things that aren’t true,” Romney told “Good Morning America” host George Stephanopolous last month. “I’ve looked at prior debates. And in that kind of case, it’s difficult to say, “Well, am I going to spend my time correcting things that aren’t quite accurate? Or am I going to spend my time talking about the things I want to talk about?”
Crossroad’s debate themed web video attempts to help Romney and his campaign with their daunting fact-check venture by dispelling any falsehoods the President might tell tonight in the first presidential debate before he gets a chance to levy them on Romney.
And based on Team Obama’s truth-telling track record thus far, the Romney campaign will need all the help it can get.
